The gang war between the gangs of Wasseypur and Naya Bazar is said to have started in 1983 when Shafi Khan, father of Fahim, was gunned down at a Barwadda petrol pump. In revenge, two persons - Asgar and Anzar - were gunned down in broad daylight at Rajhans mansion of Bank More locality in 1984. In retaliation, a bomb was hurled at Fahim’s elder brother Shamim Khan in Dhanbad court in 1986 when he was brought there for production before the court. Sultan both from Sabir’s gang, who were said to be behind the killing of Shamim, were gunned down. Chhotan Khan, another brother of Fahim, was stoned to death in Rangatand locality of Dhanbad in 1993. This led to murder of Md Nazir, close aide of Sabir Khan, at a Mazar in hill colony in 1998. ![]() In 2001, Nazma and Shahnaz Khatoon, the mother and aunt (mother’s sister) of Fahim were gunned down on rail tracks at Diamond crossing which further led to the killing of one Jafar Ali of the Sabir gang on Bhuli road in 2003. Names of Wahid Alam, Dabbu and Manoj (2009), Md. Irfan (2011), Sonu Khan (2012), Chintu Khan (2013) added to the list of victims of this gang war.
